Observations of a Winter Morning

The continuing discoveries of a 21st century artist and naturalist …

I started something new this year – a nature journal.  I had the idea after I began reading Edith Holden’s book The Nature Notes Of An Edwardian Lady at the end of 2014.  I have since found out nature journals have become a fad – so much so that people write books to teach nature journal creation.
So I’ve been, since the first of this month, drawing and making notes in my first ever nature journal.  Today I spent time just up the hillside behind our house sketching the only green around – tiny plants peeking out from the dead leaf ground cover of winter.   When I finished sketching I sat a while just soaking in the winter sounds and sights.
The temperature began dropping after sunrise a result of a cold front headed our way.  I had taken my camera with me and took several photos of our cold, winter hillside.
